Course Equivalencies

Use theÌýtransfer equivalencies toolÌýto see how courses taken at other institutions transfer to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½.

This system reflects previously approved course equivalents at Ä¢¹½´«Ã½. If you do not see a specific institution or course listed, it means that we have not yet evaluated course(s) from that institution. Currently enrolled students who are considering taking courses elsewhere should contact theÌýTransfer Evaluator in the Registrar’s officeÌýto determine possible equivalencies.

Note to transfer applicants:ÌýWe are only able to provide an official transcript evaluation upon acceptance to UNCA. Transcript evaluations are completed within two weeks of your acceptance. If you have any questions, please contactÌýAdmissions@unca.edu.


Advanced Placement (AP) Credit

Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ awards academic credit of 3 to 8 semester hours to enrolled students who receive scores of 3, 4 or 5 on specific Advanced Placement exams offered by the College Board. The required score, amount of credit, and course waiver(s) offered are determined by the academic departments for which Advanced Placement exams are available.

Cambridge International (AS- & A-levels) Credit

Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ awards academic credit and course waivers will be granted to enrolled students who have obtained the required scores on specific A-Level or AS-Level Cambridge International Exams. An official Cambridge International transcript is required for credit to be awarded.

How can I send an official transcript of my Cambridge exam grades to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½?

You can use theÌýÌýto send your Cambridge International AS & A Level exam grades. Institutions will receive your transcript within 14 days of your request. For more information, please visit theÌý. Please have the official record sent electronically toÌýAdmissions@unca.edu.

For AS- & A-level exams taken outside of the U.S, contact the Registrar’s office atÌýASC@unca.eduÌýfor credit review.

 

College Level Examination (CLEP) Credit

Passage of CLEP exams requires a score of 50 or better. Three semester hours of credit is awarded for each of the exams listed below with the required score. A combined total ofÌýno more than 30 semester hours of credit for CLEP and PEP exams may be accepted by Ä¢¹½´«Ã½.

Note: Current students wishing to take one or more CLEP exams must obtain prior approval from the Office of the Registrar by submitting aÌý. Students who have earned 90 or more semester hours, or if the hours earned from the CLEP exam(s) will cause the student to exceed 90 hours, must consult with the Office of the Registrar to request special permission.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Credit

Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ awards academic credit and course waivers will be granted to enrolled students who have obtained the required scores on specific Standard-Level or Higher-Level IB exams. An official IB transcript is required for credit to be awarded

How can I send an official report of my CLEP exams to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½?

Go to thisÌýÌýand select the option “Request for results to Institutes of higher education“. Please have the official record sent electronically toÌýAdmissions@unca.edu.

 

NC School of Science and Math (NCSSM) Credit

Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ awards academic credit to enrolled students who have obtained NCSSM credit with a grade of B- or higher. Evaluations of courses is ongoing and course equivalencies will be updated as they are approved.
