Transfer Students
Transfer Policies & Resources
The Office of the Registrar is committed to helping transfer students understand how their previous coursework applies toward a Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ degree. Will My Credits Transfer?
Will My Credits Transfer?
Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ accepts transfer credit for undergraduate courses completed with a grade of C or better at regionally accredited institutions. Your GPA starts fresh at UNCA — transfer grades do not carry over.
Credit is awarded on a semester-hour basis. If you attended a quarter-system school, every quarter hour equals two-thirds of a semester hour.
Credits are generally not accepted for technical or vocational coursework, life experience, independent study, or practicums — though petitions with documentation are considered. Transfer credit earned 10 or more years ago is evaluated case-by-case.

NC Community Colleges & Articulation Agreements
NC Community Colleges & Articulation Agreements
North Carolina community college students have a clear path to Ä¢¹½´«Ã½. If you’ve earned an AA or AS degree from an NC community college, your core curriculum requirements are considered fulfilled — with the exception of the Senior-Year Seminar (SYS 478). Transfer Guides for every UNCA major help you plan which courses to take before you arrive. Ä¢¹½´«Ã½ also maintains formal articulation agreements and direct admission partnerships with a number of institutions, outlining exactly how credits will transfer so you can plan your degree with confidence.
Reverse Transfer
Reverse Transfer
Already enrolled at UNCA and close to earning an associate degree? North Carolina’s Reverse Transfer Program lets you combine credits earned at a NC Community College with credits earned at UNCA to apply for an associate degree from your original community college.
If you qualify, you’ll see a pop-up in OnePort inviting you to opt in. Participation is voluntary and does not affect your UNCA bachelor’s degree path.
